Mapal Mega-Speed-Drill-Titan productive drill machines titanium

Mapal has developed the Mega-Speed-Drill-Titan for machining titanium. The company’s goal was to create a solid-carbide drill that can run at a very high feed rate in titanium materials, resulting in low cycle costs.

The drill has four guiding chamfers to help create optimal hole roundness. Convex cutting edges and the tool’s coating increase tool life, the company states.

To get the maximum coolant flow to the main cutter, the coolant channel is not open in the direction of the chip flute but instead is guided along the outside surface to the rear. In this way, the guiding chamfers experience maximum cooling, dissipating the generated heat effectively.

A newly designed chip flute produces small chips and discharges them via the flute.
