Mazak Canada names David Andrews as its new general manager

Mazak Corp., Florence, Ky., has named David Andrews as its new general manager for Mazak Canada. He reports to Ray Buxton, the outgoing general manager, for an interim transition period.

Andrews comes to the company with more than 20 years in the machine tool and industrial sectors, with his most recent position being general manager for Sandvik Coromant Canada.

While at Sandvik Coromant Canada, Andrews oversaw the full profit and loss responsibility for sales and drove sales opportunities and business development. Additionally, he was a member of the Sandvik Sales, Area America’s management team and was a member of the board of directors for Sandvik Canada Inc.

He is a graduate of Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology, London, Ont.

Buxton remains with Mazak as Canadian Director, a senior advisory role, reporting to Dan Janka, president of Mazak North America, until his retirement. He joined Mazak as general manager in 2007, the same year Mazak’s Canadian Technology Centre opened to support Central and Eastern Canada.

Under Buxton’s leadership, Mazak transitioned to a direct sales model in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and B.C. To better assist customers in Western Canada, Mazak opened the Edmonton Technical Centre in 2020, and in 2021, Mazak Canada assumed responsibility for spare part sales within Canada in both official languages and in either U.S. or Canadian funds.
